Here is our story in a nutshell from our President:
We are an IT-Consulting firm with a vision to empower newly immigrated professionals from Africa to Canada seeking a better life down here.
When I came into Canada, I started off as a factory worker at a fulfilment centre. It was a challenge with my educational background and over 8 years' work experience to get a good paying job.
I had to go to college for a year, even at that, no result and the bills kept piling up. I was just leaving from paycheck to paycheck until I met a friend, a fellow Nigerian who came in at the same time I came, but was living good. This was the beginning of my good fortune. I asked her to show me the way. She was like she did a bootcamp on Business Analysis and that was how she started off....fast forward I registered for the program, stayed committed and started applying for jobs. When I landed my first job and I received that first month salary, I realized there is a difference between twelve and half-a dozen.
I immediately started sharing the good news with my friends and teaching them the ropes once they land in Canada. At first, I introduced them to the same boot camp I went to, but I noticed something; they were still coming to me for BA knowledge. The bootcamp was no longer focused on Quality but quantity.
On weekends, I will sit with them, teaching them the concepts, showing them the ropes showing them new tools used for BA work and also help them learn the necessary soft skills needed to do the job like communication, documentation, presentation and also interview rehearsals.
With my help, they got job offers, and tare doing well professionally today.
One day, one of my friends who I helped, reach-out and was like.why don’t I concentrate on helping other immigrants in Canada?
He even gave me reasons why he thinks I should do it:
Firstly, I give undivided attention to the people I teach. Most boot camps are now after the numbers, not results.
Secondly, I use illustrations with stories that people can easily relate with.
Thirdly, I go the extra mile in focusing on the development of soft skills, like communication, presentation, confidence etc-- a major determinant of passing interviews. Other boot camps do this just once, if at all.
I listened and gave good thought to his advice, and that is how Idealites-IT Consulting was born. So, on paper, we are new, but we have been helping our fellow brothers and sisters from the back scene get gainful employment and do well in their organizations.
At Idealites have the following philosophy:
- Quality is better than Quantity: At the start of every cohort, we set a fixed number of students we can take, so as to give that personalized touch to our students.
- To see is better than to have heard: Idealites-IT will to the best of her abilities bring cutting edge Business Analysis tools with premium subscriptions for the students to have hands-on experience in class and off class throughout the duration of the program. Tools like Jira, Visio, Lucidchart, Confluence, SQL-Db, Power BI etc.
- We Lead you by the hand: We ensure that our students develop the soft skills needed to stand-out in interviews from the competition and get the job they desire. We do this through series of mock-up interview prep.
These are our values and philosophy. We want to train students who are committed to learning, and using the skills they will learn to drive business solutions and enjoy financial stability.
